Election 2008~ "The Key To National Blessing"

Five Things Which Are No Different About This Election from All Other Presidential Elections in Our History

  1. God is still on the throne.

  2. The Scriptures are still the only rule of action for Christians.

  3. The duty of believers at the ballot box is the same today as it has always been. We may only select leaders who meet the Scriptural requirements for civil magistrate. Leaders need not be perfect, but they must be qualified.

  4. The obedient response of the elect of God to the Lord Jesus Christ and His law-word, not partisan politics or the results of presidential elections, is the key to national blessing.

  5. The results of the presidential election, regardless of who wins, will work together for the good of the elect of God.

A Quote From Jim Elliot

"God, I pray Thee, light these idle sticks of my life and may I burn for Thee.  Consume my life, my God, for it is Thine.  I seek not a long life, but a full one, like you, Lord Jesus." - Jim Elliot (1948)

"A Quiet Heart, Ever Trusting In Thee"

By George Dawson, 1821-1876

O Lord our governor, we beseech Thee, of Thy Mercy,

That we may have the heavenly vision,

And behold things as they seem unto Thee,

That the turmoil of this world may be seen by us

To be bringing forth the sweet peace of the eternal years,

And that in all the troubles and sorrows of our own hearts

We may behold good, and so, with quiet mind

And inward peace, careless of outward storm,

We may do the duty of life which brings us

A quiet heart, ever trusting in Thee.

We give Thee thanks for all Thy mercy.

We beseech Thy forgiveness of all our sins.

We pray Thy guidance in all things,

Thy presence in the hour of death,

Thy glory in the life to come.

     Of Thy mercy hear us,

     Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

     Amen.

Update Badly Overdue!!

You know, I keep saying that I am going to get better with this blog and I truly am going to!  I am currently getting set to add pictures, etc., so hold tight any of you who read this and have been patient!

Where to start??  Well, let me start with what's been going on with our family.  Tim has been away in Phila. for, well, I'm not sure how many weeks now and has been flying home on the weekends.  It's been rough.  I miss him.  But, it should be ending soon!  Mallory graduates from Cedarville University May 3rd and I can't believe how fast 4 years have gone!  It just seems like I was bawling my eyes out sending her off to college!!  I had been told it would go fast by those who had gone before me with this! Cedarville University has been a wonderful Christian college and we are so thankful for her years there.  I must add that they have an "awesome" president with Dr. Bill Brown!! Check out the school if you are looking for one for your kids! www.cedarville.edu

After graduation, we will have her home for a short time and then she is off to France for 6 weeks for an "Au Pair" job to watch/care for two 11 year old girls.  She will be in Paris and St. Tropez!!  Lucky her!  Apparantly, this is a wealthy family who likes to travel and has an apartment in Paris. They will pay for everything for her, as well as pay her to watch the girls.  We're thankful that she will be able to earn some money after graduating, so off to France she goes! She is very excited about it and has kept up with her French very well, since spending the fall semester over there. She'll come home after that and will probably work some more at her favorite Starbucks in Monroeville! Then, in October, she will most likely be leaving (AGAIN) for France to teach English for 7 months!!  We just can't keep her away from France!  She loves it there! I told her that she is not allowed to "fall in love" while there because I don't want to share her with a man from so far away! (selfish me, huh?) Just teasing (partly) Keep you posted on all of that.  We're very proud of her and we're not sure what the Lord has in store or whether this could lead to something in her field of study; Political Science/International Studies.  Say a prayer for her to be just where the Lord would want her to be....in His will only!!  Thank you!

Next is Jill!  Well, she and I had a wonderful trip to Boston this past week to visit "The School of the Museum of Fine Arts," Boston (SMFA).  I LOVED Boston, having never been there before!  It is so beautiful and the historical buildings are just as beautiful! It was so clean and Jill said that she couldn't wait to come back to Pittsburgh to see some of the "garbage" around the city! (ha-ha) Pittsburgh's really not that dirty; it's just that Boston was so clean!! She LOVES Pittsburgh, however and hates to leave!!  We loved the school and it looks like this is the one!!  They offered her a nice scholarship and it is hard to turn down.  We would, however, rather it not be so far away!  I know what I will be "saving" for!!  Airplane tickets to have her come home once-in-a-while!!  Please pray for this, as well.  We're still in the stages of getting it all worked out and know that the Lord could stop it, if it isn't His will.  We feel that it is a good fit for her but again, only want to be in His will!!

So, that's a quick summary of what has been going on in our lives!  We are taking a trip to California as a "kind-of" celebration for Mallory's graduation.  One "plus" to Tim's travel has been frequent flyer miles and hotel points.  We are blessed that we do not have to pay for either of these for this trip and thank the Lord!! God is good to us, always providing our needs (and often times chooses to bless us beyond our needs) and yet, we sometimes forget and lose sight of how He will provide for our basic needs. We are so blessed as Americans and I don't want to lose sight of that.  I am humbled all the time as to how He cares so much for us when we don't deserve a thing!

I plan to have pictures of that trip on here!! Keep watching!  I'll try not to let you down!    Thanks for reading and remember........there is only one place to be in this world and that is in the Lord's will.  Keep seeking Him for that direction! It will give you greater peace, for His ways are always the best ways!!

I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord;
I have no good besides You."
Psalm 16:2

Easter 2008 at the Fisher Home~

Hello!!  Well, since I don't do such a good job with updating, I thought I would post some pictures from our Easter at our house.  There aren't many pictures of  "people" (we'll have to do better next time) but you can enjoy them anyway! The young boy is our nephew, Joshua.  Hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Easter!
